Released 30 pounds

As I came into the kitchen I noticed my son sneaking brown sugar out of the container. I became sick to my stomach as reality hit me. I thought that I could hide my addiction from my kids but they were becoming me – the part I didn’t want them to become. I began to realize that if I did not get off the roller coaster of cravings that serious illness would hit. I was only 39 and I was having symptoms of things I was afraid to go to the doctor for. I thought I knew how to change, but the desire to do it never outweighed the instant gratification that I got from food. I needed more sugar to get the same “energy” and it scared me. I actually thought about what life would be like for my family if I died. I realized how selfish I was. I couldn’t believe I desired the quick fix rather than my long term health.

I began The Healthy Edge lifestyle and my family immediately noticed. I was kinder, happier, and spent more time with them. I released 30 pounds and dropped 4 dress sizes. We began to go on walks together, play at the park and laugh more. My lifestyle change started to affect how they ate and how active they were. As a family, we began doing 5K races.

The Healthy Edge has showed me the mental part of what had been going on inside me. Because of that journey on the inside the changes are life-long for me. I can’t believe my kids actually ask what is better for them when they are deciding what to eat. They ask about the ingredients of foods. They take their vitamins faithfully.

Since completing The Healthy Edge lifestyle program, we have added two foster kids to our large family. They have been exposed to how and why to eat healthily, something they have never experienced before. Physically, their pooch bellies are disappearing! Emotionally, they are not bouncing off the walls. They are learning life skills that are invaluable.

Our oldest daughter chooses not to eat at McDonalds anymore. My son loves all the food we get to eat! The kids are excited about the new recipes and love them. One day the kids were given some boxed “mac and cheese.” I let them eat it for one meal and then was going to throw out the rest. They were really excited to eat the stuff… until they started eating it. After being on The Healthy Edge food, the box food actually tasted like eating the box. They didn’t finish their food! My daughter, who can’t have dairy, had a Healthy Edge meal instead of the “mac and cheese.” She told me she got the better deal! Now the processed box stuff is not exciting to them. I can’t believe the changes in our lives!
