My Healthy Edge Story

In January of 2008, on a trip to the doctor’s office, I discovered my weight to be close to 240 pounds. This was the most I had ever weighed in my life. I had spent the previous year starting a dessert business baking and selling gourmet cheesecake. All the sampling I did went to my waistline and every other part of my body as well! I decided it was time to get out of the kitchen and take control of my health!

I invested in a personal trainer in February of 2008 and began an amazing journey discovering what I’m capable of. I became leaner, stronger, and smarter about my food and exercise choices. Since then I’ve released a total of 70 pounds! A critical part of my journey was meeting Amber Thiel, co-founder of The Healthy Edge, in January of 2009. Her enthusiasm is inspiring! I knew The Healthy Edge would help me continue on my health journey as I decreased my time with my personal trainer and began to “fly on my own”.

The Healthy Edge has empowered me to see all the possibilities for what I can do, such as competing in two triathlons in September 2009. This was a huge accomplishment since I never considered myself to be an athlete. Getting back into the kitchen to cook in ways that support my health has also been great fun! I continue to learn about eating well, finding ways to exercise that I can get excited about, and sharing all of this with others. If you are healthy you’ll feel it in your body and it will show on your face!
