Can You Relate?

Published on 01/11/10

For the majority of my late teens and early twenties, I lived on a daily diet of diet soda, bagels, granola bars, coffee, Instant Healthy Choice Microwave meals, Baked Lays Potato Chips and Subway wraps. Coffee was my breakfast and diet soda was my mid-afternoon “pick me up”. That was pretty much my life with a few light beers after work mixed in with a couple salads a week (iceburg lettuce and lots of croutons). I was thin and athletic so I was categorized as “healthy”. I chose not to eat fast food burgers or fries and I never ate deep fried foods. I even ate my salads with no dressing and avoided mayonnaise… how much healthier can you get?

Then I worked out. I worked out everyday. I hated it. My primary motivation was to not be fat and flabby and since those were not an option, I did it. I can say now that this mindset put me in the category “obsessive” when it came to exercise and my physical appearance. Do you know how tiring it is to be obsessed about anything? It’s absolutely draining! So on top of all of this I was tired, sick, moody and depressed, but I was thin!

The obsession to stay thin led to various methods of losing weight that were detrimental to my health physically, mentally and emotionally. I cut calories and worked out more. I tried diet pills (or what I like to call, heart attack in a pill). I would skip breakfast and drink diet sodas to get me through my day. I became bulimic and at one point and was binging and purging on a daily basis. I hated myself for what I was doing, but didn’t know what to do to keep the body I wanted without feeling hungry, deprived and being on a diet. I lived in fear of what I would actually look like if I didn’t do these things.

Some of you can relate to some of my story and others of you have lived it or are living it. I want to share with you what I have discovered in my journey to take control of my life. It involved getting off the diet and living for my health. And guess what? I am thin and healthy now! Instead of choosing one, I choose both!

Now I am thirty and I look back on that lifestyle that wonder, “What was I thinking?” I could go into the blame game with myself, but instead I am honest about what kind of information is out there for weight loss. I was doing what people said you needed to do to lose weight! The main staples and practices of that past “diet” lifestyle are what I found research is saying actually causes weight gain in the future. The abuse of diets can actually create a situation where we are physically and emotionally unable to release weight later in life! How many of you are there? How many of you are in your 30’s, 40’s, 50’s and beyond and are finding losing weight an impossible feat?

You don’t need to go through such ordeal alone. You can seek the professional help of a personal life coach. Personal life coaching can bring tremendous changes to your life. These personal life coaches can guide you through your self-image issues and help you live a healthier and happier life.

There is something personal I want to share with all of you. When I was 23, my mom died of breast cancer. She was 46 years old on the day she died and let me tell you, watching the person you love the most fight cancer for eight years will definitely make you re-evaluate where health falls on your priority list. Without your health, you can’t enjoy or do the things that people live life to do. Besides watching the physical deterioration my mom, the hardest and most profound part of her battle was watching her slowly lost the ability to do the things she loved. I want to share with you the secrets of health and permanent weight release that I live my life by now. The ways that I have escaped depression and the bondage that food and exercise had on me. You deserve to be healthy, happy, active, energized and able to enjoy life to its fullest!

What an amazing gift to pass on to your family!
